Job Description

SUMMARY 

Receives daily workload to implement and coordinate activities of household goods warehousing to include ordering, receiving, storing, inventorying, issuing, and shipping materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and parts, in the warehouse by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Assists dispatch as required.

Monitors incoming Storage-in-Transit (SIT) shipments to ensure contents.

Directs containerization of storage shipments to insure accuracy and safety.

Prepares outgoing shipments for delivery or release to other carriers.

Loads outgoing supplement on vans & trucks.

Operates forklift as required to prepare and store shipments.

Monitors and inspects returning trucks.

Assists in planning of warehouse layout, and other storage areas, considering turnover, size, weight, and related factors of items stored.

Advises employees on care and preservation of items received, stored, and shipped; methods and use of equipment in handling, storing, maintaining, and shipping stock; and related problems.

Maintains and updates content inventories.

Assists in ordering of inventories.

Traces history of items to determine reasons for discrepancies between inventory and stock control records and recommends remedial actions to resolve discrepancies.

Determines work procedures based on priorities received from the Local Operations Manager Receives daily work schedule from dispatch and distributes as appropriate.

Issues written and oral instructions.

Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.

Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances.

Prepares composite reports from individual reports of subordinates.

QUALIFICATIONS

One year certificate from college or technical school, two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Forklift Certification.

WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Duties require the ability to work at variable heights.
