Temporary COVID POD Vaccinator Assistant

Overview

If this is you, we invite you to apply to one of our temporary City of Alexandria Vaccination site opportunities. One of which is the Vaccinator Assistant who assists the Vaccinator in efficiently dispensing COVID-19 vaccine according to existing protocols at PODs (Points of Distribution).

The Opportunity – Examples of duties

  • Participate in the daily start-of-shift briefings to stay current with vaccination information and procedures

  • Work with logistics support staff to ensure all vaccination supplies are on the assigned vaccination table

  • Prepare supplies throughout the day for use by vaccinator

  • Use privacy screens to create a private area if requested by the recipient.

  • Assist vaccinator in giving pertinent information to the patient

  • Assist vaccinator with recording vaccination information on the recipient’s vaccination card and in the electronic medical record by using a tablet

  • Wipe down chair and table after recipient leaves; tidy the vaccination area at end of shift.

  • Maintain familiarity with all safety and emergency response procedures, and enact them as needed

  • Maintain confidentiality of all information related to a patient’s visit

  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment including an N95 respirator and goggles or face shield.

Job Requirements
The Ideal Candidate

To minimally qualify for this position all applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED; and 0-3 years of relevant experience.


To be considered an ideal candidate applicants must possess all the above as well as possess the following skills: attention to detail; ability to multi-task; flexible and functions well under stressful pressured situation; ability to anticipate future needs of staff he/she is supporting and take the initiative to address those needs; excellent communication skills with colleagues, high-level customer service skills with the public; .

Notes

*Please note that this is a 90 day temporary position with the possibility of an extension.

Schedule:

Work is in-person 8:00-5:30 PM, Monday-Sunday. All days will not be scheduled with a POD, but the applicant must work the scheduled POD days.

The ideal candidate is willing to work additional hours when needed to complete tasks or work at vaccination events



Training:

Will receive training in Incident Command Structure (ICS) and following chain of command, HIPAA compliance, Biosafety and correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and POD (Point of Dispensing) structure and procedures
