The Ideal Candidate
To be minimally qualified for this position all applicants must possess an associate degree; and two (2) years of relevant experience.
To be considered an ideal candidate, applicants must possess the above as well as; attention to detail; ability to multi-task; be flexible and function well under stressful, pressured situations; ability to problem-solve independently; ability to anticipate future needs of staff and community partners he/she is supporting and take initiative to address those needs; excellent communication skills with colleagues, high level customer service skills with the public and community organizations; extremely proficient in Word, Publisher, PowerPoint and Excel, and is able to learn other software as needed; bilingual in English/Spanish or English/Amharic.

Alexandria Health Department (AHD) is one of 35 health districts in Virginia. As part of the Virginia Department of Health, AHD serves the residents, businesses, and visitors of Alexandria and works closely with the City of Alexandria and community partners to achieve its mission and vision. AHD's mission is "Protecting and Promoting Health and Well-Being in Our Communities" and our vision is "Healthy People, Healthier Communities." *Please note this is a 90 day temporary position with the possibility of an extension.
Work is in-person, 7:45-4:30pm, Monday through Friday. Evenings and weekend work will be necessary on a regular basis to coordinate and implement outreach efforts.
