Job Description

The Mission Concepts and Capabilities Division (MCC) of Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking a motivated, energetic Engineering Physicist to support the government in the development and application of high-assurance computer security systems hardware and software. This contingent position, expected to start late spring or early summer 2025, will support provide support on-site in the National Capital Region, from ARA facilities, and via telecommuting when approved.

In this position, the successful candidate will work with DoD and other contractor personnel to develop next-generation information assurance standards, architectures, applications, and devices.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or related discipline and 3+ years of relevant experience OR high school diploma and 5+ years of directly relevant experience.
  • DoD SECRET clearance
  • Proficient with CAD modeling
  • Capable of conducting thermal analysis, structural analysis of bolted joints and mechanical structures and identifying failure modes
  • Familiar with vibration and shock isolation methods for aircraft and shipboard applications
  • Familiar with the use of finite element analysis for structural and thermal applications
  • Familiar with common electronics interconnects and power switching components (connectors, switches, etc.)

  • DoD TOP SECRET clearance
