Classroom Monitors (immediate short-term contract opportunity)

Alexandria City Public Schools continue to ensure that their schools are a safe, friendly and welcoming environment for all. They are currently hiring Classroom Monitors to help ensure students remain attentive in the classroom. This is a short-term contract opportunity. Responsibilities would include:

• Contacts the school front office daily for a count/names of student attendance
• Consistently directs students to the on-line teacher for any questions about the class work
• Contacts the front office or nearest teacher for assistance on student behavior
• Under the virtual supervision of the virtual-teacher, the monitor will manage and support students while facilitating remote classroom instruction. With guidance from the virtual teacher, the Monitor may assist students with the basic operations of the laptop computer.
• The Monitor also helps manage students throughout the school day whether in the hallways or during lunch, indoor or outdoor recess, or restroom breaks.
• Under the immediate supervision of a school principal or school administrator, the Monitor also helps students to follow school safety protocols and other duties as requested by the building principal (e.g., fire drills).
• The Classroom Monitor also helps students follow public health protocols which include but are not limited to: maintenance of six (6) feet of physical distancing; the wearing of face coverings inside the buildings; and reporting any safety concerns to school administration for immediate resolution.
• May be assigned as a Health Monitor as needed.
