The Loudoun County Department of Family Services Benefits unit is currently seeking qualified applicants that are looking to work in a diverse, exciting and fast paced work environment which supports our Mission: To help people achieve safe and productive lives.
This position is expected to be located at our satellite office in Sterling, Virginia and is responsible for determining eligibility for Public Assistance Programs, to include Supplemental Nutrition Assistance and Medicaid. Position conducts interviews with applicants and provides case management for approximately 650 public assistance cases, responds quickly and effectively to customer inquiries to resolve issues, answer questions, and handle any emergency situations that may arise.
The successful candidate must be able to work independently; possess excellent decision making, time management, and organizational skills; exceptional oral and written communication skills; serve as a positive role model to co-workers; and function well in a team environment. Must learn complex federal, state, and local public assistance policies and have the ability to apply that knowledge to caseload.
Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in sociology, psychology, accounting, finance or related field. The applicant must have the ability to work independently and have excellent decision making skills.
Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
