Job Description


The NOVA SySTEMic mission is to develop a sustainable STEM pipeline in Northern Virginia.
We engage students in elementary school and inspire them to continue to pursue STEM education in high school, college and the workforce through a collaboration with schools, businesses and community organizations.

We have developed partnerships with school divisions, higher education institutions, employers, and chambers of commerce throughout Northern Virginia to create a sustainable workforce pipeline.

Various activities, such as summer STEM camps, career exploration, community EXPOs, workshops, competitive robotics and professional development are being delivered to participating teachers and students and are built on the critical need for a hands-on, activity based approach to learning STEM through collaboration and innovative teaching methods.

As part of NOVA SySTEMic, the STEM Education Coordinator will assist and support the expansion of NOVA SySTEMic throughout the Northern Virginia region and work with instructional teams to create effective STEM learning experiences for students.


Duties and Responsibilities

The STEM Education Coordinator is responsible for facilitating and coordinating STEM integration programming at all grade levels. Responsibilities also include the development and extension of school, higher education and business partnerships in STEM areas. The STEM Education Coordinator is assigned to serve one or more of the NOVA area school divisions and may be called upon to engage in state activities that are influenced by the region they serve.

Job Requirements


Bachelor’s Degree in biology, computer science, science education, or other related STEM discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which knowledge, skills and abilities required to complete the duties of the position have been achieved.
•Relevant experience administering related projects or educational programs.
•Demonstrated success in establishing community partnerships
•Experience working with adults and children in group settings.

Experience with budgeting, data tracking and equipment inventory.
•Strong communication and organizational skills.
•Experience working with middle and/or high school students through STEM education and outreach programming
•Experience with STEM educational programming that includes but is not limited to biotechnology, engineering, robotics, programming, IT and/or cybersecurity.

Knowledge of STEM and STEM programming; •Knowledge of budgeting;
•Knowledge of organizational practices;
•Ability to work independently;
•Excellent written and public speaking skills
•Organizational skills.
•Familiarity and comfort with Microsoft Office tools and social media
*Restricted positions are specially funded and are subject to continuation based on fiscal year funds and needs of the college.
The selected candidate’s offer is contingent upon the successful completion of an extensive criminal background
