Job Description

Produce and deliver standardized research deliverables, as well as customized reports for more in-depth research requests for specific, imminent opportunities.
Produce research on individual clients and prospects in support of client generation and development.
Monitor news and intelligence sources for business development and market visibility opportunities, stay current on news and trends relating to key clients and prospects and their markets, and proactively distribute findings to appropriate decision makers.
Conduct in-depth research and analysis of companies, industries, markets, and competitors and deliver objective, meaningful insights in concise, compelling ways.
Meet with partners from time to time to gain valuable insight into the marketplace and the ways lawyers can add value to existing relationships.
Assist in the review of potential resources for information and intelligence.
The position can reside in the Washington D.C. or New York City offices, and some travel to the other offices will be required.

Job Requirements

Four-year degree required.
A minimum of two years of experience in the professional services industry.
Law firm experience is preferred, not mandatory.
Excellent word-processing and Internet skills necessary; proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
Strong project management skills, including appropriate decision-making skills.
Action-oriented, intellectually sharp, capable, and agile.
Ability to build rapport well and is a good listener; can work comfortably with partners.
Ability to work in a dynamic environment with the ability to multi-task and manage multiple competing deadlines.
Resourceful and tenacious in pursuit of relevant information, both secondary and primary, and accurate and accountable in its delivery.
Strong client service orientation and ability to interact effectively with attorneys, key personnel and clients, to manage and exceed expectations, and to exhibit a high degree of responsiveness, diplomacy, and professionalism in these client interactions.
Able to scale communications into various lengths for consumption by busy decision-makers. Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple projects and meet strict deadlines.
Proficient (or able to become proficient quickly) in use of the Firm’s internal business-management and reporting systems (e.g., client relationship-management software, financial systems, etc.)
Proficient (or able to become proficient quickly) in searching and extracting information published by information aggregators, including Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters, CapitalIQ, LexisNexis, Hoovers, MergerMarket, etc.
Flexibility to work additional hours as needed.
